Attorney Andrew Curtin
Andrew concentrates his practice in commercial and complex litigation and
appeals, as well as in transactional and various business advisory matters,
in New Jersey and New York. His clients have been in multiple sectors
including technology, consulting, entertainment, hospitality, healthcare,
construction, and financial lending. Andrew has brought and defended against
diverse business tort, business divorce, breach of contract, consumer
fraud, and negligence actions, as well as shareholder and partnership
disputes, in state and federal court. He also handles intellectual property
matters including trademark and copyright litigation and prosecution.
Andrew has significant transactional experience, and incorporates complex
contract drafting and analysis – along with meticulous attention
to detail and focus on mitigating risk – throughout his practice.
He deals with transactional, regulatory, advisory, and investigatory matters
concerning business ventures and limited liability company, partnership,
joint venture, corporate, and nonprofit formation, governance, and compliance.
He is further skilled in legal entity management, including the preparation
of governing documents, bylaws, and resolutions and amendments, as well
as employment offer letters and contracts, policies and procedures, handbooks,
and other internal materials. He also has experience handling employment
issues and EEOC, state departments of labor, and internal complaints and
investigations.
Before joining the firm, Andrew worked for regional law firms where he maintained an active litigation practice and served as outside general counsel for small- and medium-sized businesses. In those roles, Andrew advised for- and non-profit clients on corporate/entity formation, structure, and governance, as well as on related issues concerning entity ownership and fiduciary duties, and their impact on board members’, trustees’, officers’, committees’, and employees’ rights and obligations. Previously, Andrew focused his practice on the defense of general and premises liability, major liquor liability, construction defect, and New York Scaffold Law claims, as well as related insurance coverage issues, in the New York metropolitan area.
Andrew earned his Juris Doctor in 2014 from Rutgers School of Law-Newark, where he was a senior editor for the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal, a member of the Moot Court Board, and a semifinalist in the David Cohn Appellate Advocacy Competition. After graduating, he served one term as law clerk for the Hon. Estela M. De La Cruz, J.S.C., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, before beginning private practice in New Jersey and New York. Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts in political science-public law in 2011 from the University of Delaware, where he also studied moral and political philosophy, comparative politics, and legal studies.
Andrew has handled cases from inception through trial, including complex motion practice, brief writing, and oral arguments. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York, as well as in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
An expert alpine skier, Andrew has traveled to over 50 mountain destinations in the continental U.S. and Canada. He lives in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, with his wife and young daughter.
