Jill Ellman focuses in the areas of complex commercial litigation, commercial real estate matters, and intellectual property law. Ms. Ellman’s diverse background in business law provides her with a multi-dimensional perspective for counseling clients through complex issues in commercial-related areas.
In her intellectual property practice, Ms. Ellman represents small business owners and companies in the retail, apparel and luxury good sectors on copyright and trademark issues. Ms. Ellman routinely advises clients on matters relating to their copyright registration and trademark applications and has represented a number of creative companies in federal litigations arising under the United States Copyright Act and the Lanham Act.
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Ellman counsels clients on a wide range of contractual and corporate matters ranging from corporate formation documents, purchase agreements, licensing agreements, privacy agreements and employment agreements. Ms. Ellman is involved in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions from negotiating and drafting agreements, including commercial leases on behalf of landlords and tenants and purchase and sale agreements, to due diligence.
Prior to joining M. Ross & Associates, LLC, Ms. Ellman practiced in the New York City office of a national law firm where she focused in the area of professional liability insurance coverage, including employment law matters. Ms. Ellman managed claims concerning complex, class action securities lawsuits and advised on litigation strategy and risk exposure for her clients.
Ms. Ellman is a member of the New York State Bar Association Intellectual Property and Entertainment Arts & Sports Law Sections and the New Jersey State Bar Association. In connection with her professional interests, Ms. Ellman has contributed as a writer and a speaker on various topics relating to art law. Ms. Ellman received her J.D. from the University of Miami and her A.B. from Brown University. Ms. Ellman is admitted in New York and New Jersey.
